 Happy December, Families!

Welcome to the last three weeks three and half weeks before holdiay break! Hope you are staying warm!

Today in PE, we played Pinball Soccer. Students had a blast!

  • 2 of the teams start behind the pylons with soccer balls
    • Their job is to try and pass it (from behind the pylons) into the middle and knock over one of the bowling pins
    • If someone knocks over a bowling pin they first go pick it back up, then they grab a bean bag from the side and add it to their black bin (these are their points)
    • Key Reminders:
      • Use the inside of your foot
      • Step (beside the ball) à Kick (with the inside of your foot) à Follow-through (towards your target)
  • 1 team will be standing in the middle with the bowling pins
    • This team will act as the goalies
    • Their job is to try and block the bowling pins from getting hit
    • They can use their hands or feet since they are the goalies à Encourage them to be in an active stance (knees bent, eyes up, hands up)
  • Remind students that they are not shooting, they should never be kicking it as hard as they can or even off the ground
  • Please ask the goalies to gently pass the balls back if they make a save
  • I left the bin of bowling pins out so feel free to add or take away bowling pins depending on how the game is going
  • Split the class time into thirds so each team gets a chance to be the goalie

In Writing, students are continuing to work on their main event! They are looking better and better!

In Math, I introduced a new math station! It is very similar to the other place value game! It now gives them a challenge to include decimals in their place value. We also reviewed skip counting by decimals on a number line.

The students got to choose their seats in class for this month, so they were excited! They also had a chance to tidy their buckets!

In the afternoon, during our Makerspace time, the students got to put lights on the trees that we are setting up in the school! Some students also got creative during Makerspace.

We also discussed the different states of matter during Science. We watched a quick video and then discussed how the different states react on Earth. The students also came up with different examples of the states of matter.

They also got to work on their Social Posters.

Have a great evening!

Miss. Hillier
