Good Afternoon Families, Hopefully you are all staying warm!  Today was PJ Day! Today in PE, the students played Mission Impossible. There was a story that went with today's Mission Impossible:  Because of how cold it is, Santa’s reindeer can’t fly to deliver the presents Because of this, you (the elf, the student) must make it through the snow storm and deliver the presents yourself *Each student must take one present from the crate and bring it with them through the obstacle course *If they or their present touches any of the equipment then they just restart. In Writing, the students finished their stories. They then participated in holiday writing prompts.  In Math, the students had to use their addition knowledge of decimals to find out the price of the gifts during the 12 days of Christmas. They did this in groups to help expand their knowledge. They continued on this from yesterday. We did our Hot Chocolate Science experiment. The students learned about the perfect way to ma

Happy Friday!  On Wednesday, next week is our last Healthy Hunger of 2022, it is Panago Pizza. If you would like your child to partake, please go to the MyCBE webpage and order for your child.  It will be super cold next week. We will likely be inside for all of our recesses, but please make sure that your child is dressed for the weather coming to and from school. This morning we did our Field study Friday. We went outside and the students were to pick a stick. They were to examine the stick and draw it in their visual journals. After they drew their stick they were to write out descriptions about their stick using their senses. Some of the renditions are great!  We continued reading Restart . It brought up a really interesting piece today about when stories are told from different perspectives that we may not know who to believe. It is important to listen to all sides of the story, but it also alright not to know what is right.  In Makerspace, the students are getting more and more

Good afternoon! A reminder tomorrow is Healthy Hunger day! Kernels will be dropped off tomorrow. Thursday is Festive Hat day!  In PE, the students are working with scooters and it looks like so much fun! In Writing, students are working on wrapping up their pieces of writing with their ending. We have discussed the different strategies to use when ending a piece of writing. So, the students are going to wrap up their stories by using two of these strategies, revealing the character's trait that they learn about themselves, and revealing the adaptation that their character has gained from its journey!  In Math, the students reviewed the decimal place value strategy that was learned over the last couple of classes. We then discussed comparing decimals and reviewing what the <, >, = mean when comparing numbers. Students then practiced this task with 15 questions.  In Word Work, students worked with their groups to find different words that followed the patterns of their words.

We then cut out different pages with numbers to order to practice ordering the numbers in different ways so the students could see it visually and manipulate it.  https://www.mathsisfun.com/ordering_decimals.html This afternoon, the students worked on their second set of Word Work words and continued to practice noticing the patterns in words, while learning new words.  In Science, the student partook in a simulation as t

Good afternoon Families! Tomorrow is Wear Red and Green day! Wear red and green to celebrate the time of the year! Today in PE, the students worked on showing the skills they have learned during the soccer unit before they begin to play some games.  In Writing, student were to take an ending to a story and change it to something more descriptive and use two of the strategies that we discussed days earlier rather than just The End with an explanation attatched. Students practiced this on two different examples to help them gather ideas and provide feedback on how to finish an ending with more.  In Math, the students used their knowledge about ordering tenths in order from smallest to biggest or vice versa, and practiced this. We then learned about ordering hundredths. We know that hundredths are smaller than tenths but when we order them it can get tricky. When we order hundredths from smallest to biggest we are taking the number closest to the tenth before hand and working toward the
