Good afternoon Lovely Parents and Guardians!

I hope you had just as good a day as we had. A reminder to parents, please make sure that you sign the digital consent form for us to use your child's picture on our blogs. They have a lot of fun when they see themselves and tell you what they are doing. Also, please make sure that you are sending emails to me or calling the office in advance for appointments. The office can get very busy. Lastly, please make sure that you are booking appointments at appropriate times during the day or picking your child up at appropriate times, recess and lunch are difficult times to come and get your child.

In PE, today, the students played a version of dodgeball called Moustache Ball. The students had to throw balls into nets on the other team's side. Normal dodgeball rules applied and if the students got hit they needed to do an exercise five times on their side. The next round was where if students got the ball in the net they got to take the net to their side. The students had a ball!

In Writing, we discussed what makes a good beginning. We talked about what needs to be included in a beginning to make the story move forward such as setting, characters, time and the purpose of the story. We started to discuss what makes a good beginning which includes a sound to hook the reader, interesting dialogue between characters, an action scene that gets the reader thinking and/or a question or thought that the character is thinking to make the reader also question and want to find out more. We then as a class decided to change and expand an example of a beginning sentence.

In Math, we finished off our area and perimeter unit with a Show What You Know activity! We will be moving on to adding and subtracting and numeric math.

We read Chapter 18 of Pax! Ask your child what is happening so far!

In Makerspace, today, we just had some creative time and played some pattern and design games. Students built with Kinetics and with building straws. It was fun to see them get creative.

In CAFE, we went over the F. Ask your child what it means and the strategies that they use when they read.

In Science, students are working hard on their posters and information about their animals and the zones that they live in. It will be exciting to discuss with the students what they know.

I hope you have a lovely evening!

Miss. Hillier
