 Good afternoooon! 

I hope all your children have a wonderful and safe Halloween tonight. Be safe tonight with your kids. Make sure that tomorrow you are not sending candy or snacks with peanuts in them as there are allergies in the school. Also, students should only be bring one piece of candy to have at LUNCH TIME. 

Today in PE, the students had Freedom Frenzy! Students all started with Gaga Ball and if they got eliminated they had to choose one activity to do while the Gaga Ball game was still going on. The activities they got to choose between were as follows:

  • 1 – Basketball: Shoot on one of the basketball nets (remind them of shooting tips)
  • 2 – Pumpkin smash challenge: Try knocking over soccer balls with a bean bag from different distances
  • 3 – Hula Hoop
They had a blast. 

In Writing today, the students had to write a descriptive piece about how a piece of candy felt on Halloween. Some of the students wrote very elaborative details. 


In Math, we did a glyph. It is an art piece that takes statistical data and translates it to a picture. The students did a pumpkin glyph. 



We read to Chapter 15 of Thirst today.

This afternoon the student did a STEAM project in Makerspace with Halloween candy and toothpicks. They had to design something Halloween related. 



















We also divided the class up into groups to help create our door for Literacy Week. We decided to choose Pax as we have read that as a class.

This afternoon we finished our Halloween art project with the bats and the pastels.

  Good afternoon Lovely Grade 5 Parents and Guardians, I hope you had a lovely day! We sure did at school! Tomorrow is Spirit Day at school so please wear Purple (if you can) for Grade 5! We are also going on a walking Field Trip tomorrow to the Coventry/Country Hills Storm Pond. Please make sure that your child is dressed for the weather as it may rain in the afternoon. We are going from about 1:45-3:15.  This morning the students had their first music class. We learned about different vocabulary for music terms and about different instruments. We then played Rhythm Master! The students had a blast! We continued to work on our writing piece about either their summer vacations or what they are excited and nervous about in Grade 5. We are almost complete so it will be nice to hear what students did over the summer or what they are looking forward to this year. We moving forward we will be looking at how to create rich paragraphs by expanding and adding details.  In Math, we started our

 Good afternoon! A reminder tomorrow is Healthy Hunger day! Kernels will be dropped off tomorrow. Thursday is Festive Hat day!  In PE, the students are working with scooters and it looks like so much fun! In Writing, students are working on wrapping up their pieces of writing with their ending. We have discussed the different strategies to use when ending a piece of writing. So, the students are going to wrap up their stories by using two of these strategies, revealing the character's trait that they learn about themselves, and revealing the adaptation that their character has gained from its journey!  In Math, the students reviewed the decimal place value strategy that was learned over the last couple of classes. We then discussed comparing decimals and reviewing what the <, >, = mean when comparing numbers. Students then practiced this task with 15 questions.  In Word Work, students worked with their groups to find different words that followed the patterns of their words.
