 Good Afternoon Families,

Here are some notes from the office:

LIBRARY BOOKS

Students are once again able to take books home from our Learning Commons. Just a friendly reminder that students must return their library book each week. We have sent overdue notices home to families whose children have late books.  Lost or damaged library books must be paid for. Mrs. Barrowcliff has begun to send invoices home indicating the cost of the books. Please help us get all books back each week so all students can enjoy them and there is always lots of variety to choose from.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

We are very excited to announce we will be having an in-person book fair during our Teacher Conferences. The book fair in the Northern Lights School Learning Commons on the evening of Thursday, November 24 from 4:30 – 7:45, as well as the morning of Friday, November 25 from 8:30 – 12:30.  We would love families to come by any time between these hours. Books make excellent Christmas gifts and for every book sold during the book fair, our school earns a percentage to get new books for our library.

Thanks for your support!

PICTURE RETAKES

If you’re child needs picture retakes on Wednesday, you can send back the original proof sheet with them with a note to let the teacher know you would like them to do retakes.

If your child was away for picture day (or joined us as your new school after picture day), they will also need to have their picture taken on Wednesday.

Please make sure your child knows if they need a picture taken so when we make an announcement asking students from each grade to come down to the photographer, they go down to them.

We received a new student today! They fit right into the class. Everyone has been really kind to them.

This morning, we wrote part of our main event. The students had some great ideas that we weaved together to create a great start of a main event in our story. I like to remind students that these stories are a time for collaborating. It is good to hear someone else's point of view and idea.

In Math, to help guide the teaching in the coming weeks for decimals, we did a pre-assessment on what the students already know about this topic.

We read two more chapters of Thirst.

In Music, the students had time to work on their Canadian music artist or band projects.

We started to finish off our Thirst Social projects to show that we are all Canadian and from many different cultures. They are so great!

In PE, it was Freedom Frenzy day! They had choices of basketball to practice, skipping practice, or floor hockey practice after they got eliminated from Gaga Ball.

Have a fun and safe weekend!

Miss. Hillier
