 Good Afternoon!

This morning we discussed Suspense and how to add it to our writing pieces. We looked back at our beginning to our class story about the stickleback fish and added to the middle part of our story. We added the Magic of Three technique where the fish and his friend are swimming to find food and the come across something else in the water. We used our Red Flag Words and Phrases to help build our middle. We then began to write our beginnings 


We read Chapter 20 of Thirst!

For our Field Study Friday we went outside on this beautiful day to sketch six things that we saw around our school yard. This is a time to reflect and admire the beauty that is among us.




We came in from Field Study Friday and the students presented their body percussion performances. They were very fun!

In Math, we have been learning about Order of Operations. Today, the students were given a challenge where they had to create different order of operations with four numbers and they had to use all four numbers only once. The students started off well. We will continue this Monday.


In PE, we played a game where students were practicing their passing. 

Pin Destroyer (game to help practice passing)

  • Split students into groups of 2/3
  • Each team will stand behind a pylon
  • On go, the first person in line will attempt to pass the ball towards the middle of the gym and knock over a bowling pin
  • For every pin they knock over, they grab that many bean bags from the bucket and bring it back to their pylon
  • After they shoot, they must pick up any pins they knocked over, get their ball, and give the equipment to the next person in line
  • The team with the most bean bags at the end of the time limit OR when all the bean bags are gone will be the winners
  • ROUND 2:
    • Same rules but now if the students ball ends up in a hula hoop, they get to take 2 bean bags

 Good afternoon parents and guardians! I hope you had a lovely day! We did! A reminder that  there is no school on Friday and Monday for the long weekend, the next day of school will be Tuesday October 11 for our field trip! On the morning of Tuesday October 11 we are going on our walking field trip to the Country Hills Storm Pond. We will be doing activities at the pond with Inside Education connected to our wetland unit in Science. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather, as it may be chilly and windy that morning. Please make sure your child has an easy snack to eat outside and a water bottle.  The students had a blast in PE.  Happy December, Families! Welcome to the last three weeks three and half weeks before holdiay break! Hope you are staying warm!  Today in PE, we played Pinball Soccer. Students had a blast! 2 of the teams start behind the pylons with soccer balls Their job is to try and pass it (from behind the pylons) into the middle and knock over one of the bowling pins If someone knocks over a bowling pin they first go pick it back up, then they grab a bean bag from the side and add it to their black bin (these are their points) Key Reminders: Use the inside of your foot Step (beside the ball)   à   Kick (with the inside of your foot)   à   Follow-through (towards your target) 1 team will be standing in the middle with the bowling pins This team will act as the goalies Their job is to try and block the bowling pins from getting hit They can use their hands or feet since they are the goalies   à   Encourage them to be in an active stance (knees bent, eyes up, ...

 Good Afternoon Families, Hopefully you are all staying warm!  Today was PJ Day! Today in PE, the students played Mission Impossible. There was a story that went with today's Mission Impossible:  Because of how cold it is, Santa’s reindeer can’t fly to deliver the presents Because of this, you (the elf, the student) must make it through the snow storm and deliver the presents yourself *Each student must take one present from the crate and bring it with them through the obstacle course *If they or their present touches any of the equipment then they just restart. In Writing, the students finished their stories. They then participated in holiday writing prompts.  In Math, the students had to use their addition knowledge of decimals to find out the price of the gifts during the 12 days of Christmas.
